Dobacaracol’s album SOLEY is now certified gold in Canada, reaching 75 000 units sold!!!!! Dobacaracol is a world class act. A 6 member world music group, fronted by two exotic dreadlocked girl singer/percussionists, backed by four sharp shooting seasoned musicians, who deliver a unique blend of African, Reggae, Pop, Rock and Funk influences mixed with beautiful, enchanting and hypnotic harmonies. SOLEY, their 1st full-length album, reached Top 10 in Quebec and Top 40 in Canada (surprising for a mostly French language album) on the Neilsen Soundscan sales charts. Their single “Étrange” hit No1 on the Quebec radio charts and the video stayed a record 3 months on the Musique Plus TV Top 5. Dobacaracol also performed at Canada’s Live 8, in 2005 along side other top Canadian acts such as Bryan Adams, Bare Naked Ladies, Blue Rodeo and Neil Young. Their album SOLEY won the Best World Album at the ADISQ’s Felix Music Awards. (Quebec’s equivalent to a Juno or a Grammy) and recorded john lennon’s “hold on” for the AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL “MAKE SOME NOISE” campaign. May 2006 saw SOLEY released in France, Switzerland and the Benelux on Wagram (35 000 sales so far) where 100 tour dates were booked throughout the year. It was also released in Australia and New Zealand on Filter/Shock Music and sold 4000 copies. Their 15 date October 2005 Oz tour (including MusiCairns) had SOLEY hit No 1 on HMV’s Australia World Sales chart and broke the 10 year Bellingen Global Carnaval record for album sales. They had their second successful Oz tour in April, 2006.
